Description
Residents of Barry share their memories of the cultural diversity which was strong in the area due to the amount of work which was available. Here we have observations on integration, the traditions which were brought from abroad and the culture which was shared here, the loss of a native tongue, marriage traditions and music.
Special attention is given here to the Greek community, their marriages, coffee shops, and way of life in Barry.
Here too is a wonderful anecdote of mistaking a Chinese laundrette for an opium den!

Oral history interviews with residents of Barry, discussing the cultural development and many diverse aspects of society from the beginning of the 20th Century until 1990. This short film has been divided into 7 parts, each of which deals with a different aspect of life in Barry’s society.
