Description

Garibaldi house was the home of Howard Lloyd Roberts of Borth.
Howard Lloyd Roberts was the son of Robert Pritchard Roberts and Martha (nee Lloyd). He was born in 1880 and was one of eight children.
He went to London to work as a journalist and then studied art but then returned to help run the family business; Roberts stores (Garibaldi house).
He enlisted into the army during the First World War and rose to the rank of Corporal. To boost the morale of soldiers he drew cartoons which were published in souvenir books. On returning home he taught art and started doing photography. From his photographs he produced postcards which were sold in the family shop.
