Description

'The Arts, Crafts, Science and Loan exhibition' was held from 20th August to 7th September 1912 at the Victoria Council Schools, Wrexham.
From 1907 to 1915 an extensive Roman industrial settlement near Holt on the bank of the River Dee was excavated. Room J of the exhibition displayed some of the discoveries.
The archaeological material recovered from Holt and on display here became known as the 'Acton Collection' after the archaeologist who directed the excavations. It is now at National Museum Cardiff.
