Description

George Thompson from Barry served with the King's Royal Rifle Corps in the First World War. Here is a photograph of 15 Platoon D Company 2nd Battalion KRRC, taken in May 1917. The writing on the back notes that after an action at Nieuport on 10 July 1917, only 28 out of 850 men crossed back over the Ypres canal. George survived the war but died in 1928 from the effects of poison gas.
