Description

Rifleman Albert Edward Rees (1897-1974) served with the 1st Monmouthshire as part of the British Expeditionary Force. At age 17 he fought in the Battle of Mons, the first battle of the War. Albert also fought at the first battle of Ypres, 1915. The swagger stick Albert is holding may have been borrowed. He was always ranked as a rifleman.
