Description

David Thomas known as 'Dai Slogger' was born on Ilan Road, Abertridwr. He was a boxing trainer and a miner and was amongst the first to volunteer from Abertridwr in 1914. He served with the Royal Field Artillery - 7th Reserve Battery. David carried this photograph with him always, it was take in the rear garden of 14, William Street, Abertridwr. Jeanette Thomas seated was David's wife. She was well travelled and educated and called 'Jeanette the Welsh' as she was born in Pwllheli. Her mother owned a guest house in Pwllheli and her father was a sea captain. Dolly, Thomas' daugher is sat on her lap.
