Description

Gunner M. Charles Jenkins, 1587, served with the 121st Battery Royal Field Artillery. Transcript: Dear Nell and Tom, Just a few lines in answer to your welcome letter and parcel which I was pleased to receive. I am sorry I have not wrote before but I have been waiting to see if we were going away but they have altered it to the 29th now I believe they don't know when they are going but some of the infantry that have been there say it is up to their knees in mud and there is a lot of chaps dying there so it must be a crib. Dear Nell I have been vaccinated last Friday but I don't think it is done properly I do not feel any thing of it but I have a rotten cold and I was in bed all day Sunday with it. One minute I am shivering and the next I am roasting and I ache all over but it is no good to go to our doctor he will only tell you to go on parade he is a bloody fool he knows nothing. Well dears I am sorry to hear they have took down all the machines they seem to be robbing the poor man.
