Transcript: Dear Ethel and Ern, Just a few lines in answer to your welcome letter and parcel which I received quite safe and enjoyed contents I am glad to say I am in the best of health as it leaves me at present hoping you are all the same. Fancy Fred Fifiled being home that was rotten someone stealing his kit bag. Yes fancy young Ernie saying that someone must have put it into his head I only wish it was right. Well dears this budget has made it hard for working people it was hard enough before but the country must have money from somewhere. Yes fancy George Harris being called up I bet it has broken his heart. I am sorry to hear Ern is so poorly. Yes if I was him I should have my teeth done it is better than having the teeth ache all the time. Dear Ethel fancy poor Mrs Brooks loosing young Willie it is a pity I expect she is upset about it. My word fancy you after the 30 shillings again I thought you had finished I expect you hope it is a girl this time well dears I think this is all at present give my love to the boys and accept the same yourselves from your loving brother Charles xxxxxxx
