Description

Thomas Edward Bennett of 4, Salubrious Passage, Swansea, joined the Territorial Force on 19 April 1909 at the age of 17, serving with the 6th (Glamorgan) Battalion Welsh Regiment. He was released from his commitment on 9 June 1909 on joining the Special Reserve of the 3rd Battalion Somerset Light Infantry. He subsequently joined the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards on 20 August 1911 and was sent to France with the British Expeditionary Force on 4 October 1914. He was killed in action between 10-13 March 1915. He has no known grave but his name is recorded on panel 2 of the memorial at the Military Cemetery Le Touret which is near Bethune, south west of Lille.
