Description

Robert Wesley Sanders (1899 - 1983) from Cardiff, known as "Wes" to the family but "Bob" to work colleagues, served in the Royal Welch Fusilers (Regtl. No 315833) from 1917 - 1919. It is said that he had originally volunteered for service aged 16 in 1915 but when his true age was discovered he was released from service, although he apparently served at home from 1915 to 1917 as a bugle boy. All of his active service was in the Middle East with the 53rd Division.
