Description

Frederick Cyril James from Swansea (known as Cyril) joined the South Wales Borderers on 5 March 1918 and after training arrived in France at the end of July. He was wounded in action: family hearsay tells he was buried alive in a bombardment, with only his hand left showing above ground; he was pulled out by a medic.
