Description
Frederick Charles Vivian served as Private 17782 14th Welsh Regiment, Swansea Battalion. He enlisted in 1914 and was one of the Swansea Battalion's first casualties. He died of his wounds, aged 23, on 14 March 1916, at Pas-de-Calais. He was buried at Bethune Town Cemetery, in France and is also remembered with Honour on the Great War Road Screen Memorial, All Saints' Church, Mumbles, Swansea. The South Wales Daily Post of 14 March 1919 contained this In Memoriam: 'When duty called him, he was there To do his best to take his share. His heart was good, his spirit brave, His resting place, a hero's grave. From his sorrowing Mother, Sisters and Brother.'
