Slate headstones, Slateville Cemetery

A large number of headstones in Slateville Cemetery are made from the local Peach Bottom slate.  The majority are inscribed in Welsh, and record the Welsh immigrants that arrived in the area to work in the local slate industry.
Most also record where the person commemorated came from originally, virtually all emigrating from the slate quarrying communities in north-west Wales.
